The BC Health Regulators (BCHR) represent 23 regulatory colleges governed by the Health Professions Act and the Social Workers Act. BCHR leads collaboration and partnership amongst health profession regulators for excellence in public protection and safe, quality care for British Columbians.
As a member of BCHR, we are pleased to participate in the public awareness campaign "Saying you are one doesn't make you one."
The campaign seeks to raise public awareness about which health professions are regulated, the regulator's role in promoting public safety, why it is important to choose a regulated health provider, and what can be done if you have concerns about a regulated health professional.
The campaign, which is refreshed each year, features bus shelter and newspaper advertising, a website in ten languages, and public service announcements. It also includes opinion pieces in mainstream and multilingual media.
The BCHR awareness campaign is the first of its kind in the province, and has sparked the interest of health regulators across Canada and internationally.
The video below are part of a series of public service announcements shown on television as part of the the campaign.
