Giving the vaccine: revised health order expands health professions able to administer COVID-19 vaccine

March 17, 2021

The public health order expanding the health professions able to administer a COVID‑19 vaccine was updated by the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, on March 14. The updated public health order is here >>

Key updates for CDSBC registrants:

  • Dental therapists are now among the health professionals who are able to administer a COVID-19 vaccine
  • The coursework requirements for dentists to become vaccinators have been condensed to two modules (down from five)

Note that this order was first issued on February 23. At that time it included dentists and dental hygienists. Read our February 24 message about the initial PHO order here >>

Reminder: Certified dental assistants, dental therapists and dentists who are interested in participating in the mass immunization campaign can register their interest online through the COVID-19 Emergency Health Provider Registry (EHPR) here >>

Getting the vaccine: vaccination invitations for CDSBC registrants

Updated May 28, 2021

Getting the vaccine: registering for your second dose

In order to receive your second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, you must register in the provincial booking system. Your first dose of vaccine was recorded in the system, and now you must be attached to your registration profile.

To register, please visit

It is important to go back and register if you received your first dose prior to the rollout of the provincial booking system.

You will be notified by e-mail or text when it's time for you to book an appointment for your second dose. If you experience difficulty booking, please call 1-833-838-2323 (open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) for assistance.

CDSBC has been distributing vaccination invitations from the health authorities to registrants upon request (as we receive them), but is not in charge of the provincial rollout.

The College is distributing information/invitations from the health authorities to our registrants as we receive them. B.C. has five regional health authorities. The table below shows which health authorities have contacted CDSBC to distribute initial vaccine invitations.

Fraser Health

Island Health

Interior Health

Northern Health

Vancouver Coastal Health

Please note:

  • Some health authorities are distributing information via the advocacy organizations for the various health professionals
  • The invitations to book vaccines will not necessarily be identical across the health authorities
  • All requests for additional information should be directed to the relevant health authorities.

The enormity of this public health initiative is unprecedented and will require patience from all of us as the government and the health authorities work to facilitate the immunization of millions of B.C. residents in the coming months.
