2021 Board Election
The CDSBC Board is responsible for ensuring that the College meets its mandate of public protection under the
Health Professions Act. Of the 12 members on the Board, half are elected and half are appointed (public) members.
The 2021 board election voting period
will open on April 5 and close April 16, 2021 at 4:30
pm (PST).
Voting will take place online. Eligible certified dental assistants, dental therapists and dentists will receive an electronic ballot via email no later than April 5 (instead of receiving a paper ballot through the mail). Your ballot will be emailed to you directly from Simply Voting.
The election is held annually in accordance with the
Health Professions Act and the CDSBC Bylaws. CDSBC changed its bylaws in 2019 to allow practising certified dental assistants, dental therapists and dentists to vote for all elected board member positions.

As you consider who to vote for in the election, please refer to our
Board Composition Matrix, which represents the ideal composition of the Board. This matrix is a useful self-assessment tool for potential board members, and also serves as a benchmark for registrants to use when voting for elected board members.[/accordion]

Each elected board member brings their own different perspectives, informed by professional and personal experience and expertise. However, the role of every board member is the same: to uphold CDSBC's mandate to protect the public – not to “represent" any particular group or constituency (geographic, specialty, or otherwise).
CDSBC has developed a Board Composition Matrix, which contains the characteristics and abilities that make both a strong board member and a strong Board.
The composition matrix can be used as a tools to help you assess who to vote for.
