2020 Board Election

All three open positions for the 2020/21 CDSBC Board have been filled by acclamation. The board election is held annually in accordance with the Health Professions Act and the CDSBC Bylaws. Candidates are acclaimed when only one eligible individual has been nominated for the vacant board position. There will be no election this year and we welcome the following Board members for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2020:
- Certified dental assistant board member: Ms. Sabina Reitzik, CDA
- Registrant board member (dentist or dental therapist): Ms. Kim Trottier, dental therapist
- Registrant board member (dentist): Dr. Alexander Hird, dentist
Ms. Sabina ReitzikSabina is a clinical assistant professor at UBC's department of oral biological & medical sciences. She first registered as a CDA in 2001 and earned her Provincial Instructor Diploma in 2015 from Vancouver Community College. Sabina has been on the Board since 2016.

Ms. Kim TrottierKim is the first dental therapist to join the CDSBC Board. She graduated from Dental Therapy in 2001, and has since worked in various models of service delivery, including private practice and public health. She currently works with the First Nations Health Authority and delivers care to Indigenous people living in remote areas of the province. Prior to her work in BC, she worked as a dental therapist in Saskatchewan where she served on the Saskatchewan Dental Therapist Council, both as a member-at-large, and as Chair of the Oral Health Committee.

Dr. Alexander HirdAlexander has been involved with CDSBC committees since 2007 and is the chair of CDSBC's Registration Committee and a member of the Quality Assurance Committee. He has been practising as a general dentist for about 15 years in White Rock and has also practiced in hospital and public health environments. He has taught at UBC in the past, earned a dental practice management certificate from UBC and recently completed his Masters in health economics, policy and management from the London School of Economics.
