What Do Patients Complain About?

About a third of complaints are closed on the basis of an agreement with the registrant to take some action to improve their practice. Now you can read an anonymous summary of all of those complaint files for three years (2012-2015) to learn what patients complain about, and how the College addresses the concerns raised through the investigation of hundreds of complaints.

Dentists: Ensure Your CDAs Hold Current Certification

An email was sent to practising dentists on 7 March with a list of the names of CDAs whose certification has lapsed. All registrants should be aware that any CDAs who are practising, but not currently certified, are in contravention of the Health Professions Act and the CDSBC Bylaws. Dentists are responsible for ensuring that their staff have appropriate registration.

Dentists can confirm that a CDA has current certification on the Registrant Lookup.

The College is hosting discussions in Nanaimo and Nelson about corporate dentistry, sedation and how to improve the quality assurance program. If you have opinions about these topics, join us for a candid conversation with the College and your peers.

Submit Your Credits for the Pacific Dental Conference

Thank you to the registrants who visited the College booth at the Pacific Dental Conference.  If you attended sessions at the conference, you should submit your continuing education (CE) credits online by logging into your account on the CDSBC website. Although your badge may have been scanned, the PDC does not submit CE credits on your behalf. Your submissions must be accurate and truthful.

Apply Now to Join a Committee or Working Group

The College recently recognized 10 dentists, certified dental assistants and members of the public at our annual awards ceremony. We welcome applications from individuals who also want to volunteer on our many committees and working groups. If you would like to contribute to the important work of protecting the public, complete the volunteer application form.

Join Us at the AGM and Board Meeting

CDSBC's 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 8:30 am on Friday, 23 June at the Segal Centre at SFU Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings Street, Vancouver. The AGM will also be webcast and available to view across the province.

The next meeting of the Board will be held the following day, at 8:30 am on Saturday, 24 June at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Grouse Room, 34th Floor, 655 Burrard Street, Vancouver.

If you plan to attend the AGM in person or the board meeting, please RSVP by 9 June to Nancy Crosby at ncrosby@cdsbc.org to ensure adequate seating and materials. Instructions for attending the AGM via webcast will be posted closer to the date.

Call for Election Scrutineers

Our Election Trustee, Dr. David Lawson, is looking for volunteer scrutineers to assist with counting the ballots for the board election on the evening of Thursday, 18 May. The election count will take place at College Place, 1765 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver.
