Notice of Proposed Amendments to Bylaw Parts 2 (College Board) and 4 (College Committees and Panels)
Posted February 11, 2020
The Board of the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC) has approved amendments to Parts 2 and 4 of the CDSBC bylaws dealing with the College Board and College committees and panels.
The proposed bylaw amendments will allow the College to deliver on its Action Plan to the Minister of Health. Comments on the proposed bylaw amendments are welcome before
May 11, 2020.
Background
In May 2019, CDSBC submitted an
Action Plan in response to a directive from the Minister of Health to meet the recommendations and unmet standards outlined in the
Cayton Report. In July 2019, the Minister provided further direction to the Board to expedite substantive changes that were needed to move forward on the Action Plan. These changes were captured in bylaw amendments made in fall 2019. The current set of bylaw amendments will:
-
Promote good governance by making clarifying changes to eligibility requirements for elected board members
-
Revise and streamline CDSBC's committee structure to promote effective decision-making and to accomplish the Action Plan
