The Board of the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC) has approved amendments to Parts 2 and 4 of the CDSBC bylaws dealing with the College Board and College committees and panels.
The proposed bylaw amendments will allow the College to deliver on its Action Plan to the Minister of Health. Comments on the proposed bylaw amendments are welcome before May 11, 2020.
In May 2019, CDSBC submitted an Action Plan in response to a directive from the Minister of Health to meet the recommendations and unmet standards outlined in the Cayton Report. In July 2019, the Minister provided further direction to the Board to expedite substantive changes that were needed to move forward on the Action Plan. These changes were captured in bylaw amendments made in fall 2019. The current set of bylaw amendments will:
Clarified Eligibility Requirements
Expanded requirements for board eligibility, including provisions to address Action Item 3 regarding the impact of an open or upheld complaint on a person's ability to stand for election or sit on the board.
Professional Standards Committees
Committees Being Dissolved
Comments may be submitted to the College of Dental Surgeons of BC and/or to the Ministry of Health no later than
Monday, May 11, 2020.
