The College invites feedback on a draft statement on third-party billing. The consultation period is open until 20 October 2017.
The statement was developed by the Ethics Committee in response to concerns that some patients, whose treatment involves dental laboratory work that is legitimately performed by a dental laboratory, are subsequently being billed by an intermediate company that operates as a third party.
The statement was approved by the Board for consultation at the June Board meeting. If approved, the draft statement will be incorporated into the College's standards and guidelines for registrants.

Considerations for Management of TMD
A number of recent complaint investigations have reinforced the need for careful evaluation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) complex. In this practice tip, Dr. Meredith Moores reminds practitioners that dentists are expected to provide a pre-treatment comprehensive TMJ and muscle assessment and document any pre-existing condition. Doing so provides the best opportunity for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, and also ensures that optimum care will be provided.
