The College is working to strengthen the way we develop policy. Our goal is to produce policy that both serves and protects the public and is attuned to the realities of the profession.
We are consulting with the Board, registrants and other stakeholders about our policy development process. We will be hosting a webinar about the process on Tuesday, 12 April at 6:30pm and a second webinar may be added at a later date. We will also be sending out an online survey to gather your input and ideas.

An email was sent to practising dentists on 9 March 2016 with a list of the names of CDAs whose certification has lapsed. All registrants should be aware that any CDAs who are practising, but not currently certified, are in contravention of the
Health Professions Act and the CDSBC Bylaws. Dentists are responsible for ensuring that their staff have appropriate registration.
Dentists are reminded to ensure that their CDAs have current certification by checking that any CDAs in their office are listed on the
Registrant Lookup.
Below are links to the names of CDAs whose certification is lapsed as of 18 March 2016:

We have had inquiries about whether or not CDAs are permitted to dispense medication. The new document
Dispensing of Non-Prescription Medications by Certified Dental Assistants outlines when dentists can delegate and supervise CDAs in the dispensing of non-prescription medication. The document was published for consultation at the beginning of the year, approved by the Board at the February meeting and is now a standard for the profession.
