CDAs regularly ask whether they need to renew their sedation course in order to assist a sedation provider.
As long as a CDA remains current in their sedation practice, course renewal is not necessary. To remain current, CDAs must:
- Continuously work for a sedation provider
- Document participation in emergency drills (every 6 months at a minimum)
- Have current CPR (every 2 years, current standard CPR – health care provider)
