Dentists: if you receive an email from the College of Dental Surgeons asking you to update your profile, delete it immediately – do not click on the link or provide any personal information. This email was not sent by CDSBC and is a phishing attempt to gain usernames and passwords for email accounts. In some cases, emails direct users to a cloned site for the Canadian Dental Association, in other cases, emails appear to be sent from "The Royal College of Dental Surgeons" requesting a membership update.
The CDSBC IT department is looking into the issue. Note that the CDSBC firewall and database were not breached or compromised in any way.
If you have already entered your username and password for any account, the solution is to immediately change those passwords.
Registrant passwords are confidential and should only be entered when accessing the CDSBC website. To ensure that you are on the CDSBC website prior to providing your confidential information, please check the address bar of your browser and confirm that the site address begins with http://www.cdsbc.org or https://eservice.cdsbc.org. CDSBC never asks our registrants to confirm their passwords via email.
