Sedation and Anaesthesia

Dentists offering sedation and general anaesthesia must adhere to the requirements described in the College’s standards for provision of these services.

All dentists who wish to provide moderate sedation, deep sedation or general anaesthesia must register and have their qualifications approved by the College.

Note that dentists who provide deep sedation and/or general anaesthesia must also apply to have their facility inspected and approved by the College prior to providing these services.

As of March 1, 2013, the College has amended the fees for deep sedation and general anaesthesia facility inspections. The College also has an administrative fee for registration of qualifications for moderate sedation, deep sedation and general anaesthesia. The new fees are below:

  • Inspection fee - Deep sedation facility $2,000
  • Inspection fee - General anesthesia facility $3,000
  • Application fee - Registration of qualifications for moderate sedation, deep sedation and general anaesthesia $125
