Section 12
Election of members of council
- The manner of the taking of votes and the conduct and regulation of
elections for members of the council must be carried on and held under
the First Schedule.
- At all elections retiring members of the council are eligible for re-election.
- Subject to section 13, a member of the college is entitled to vote at every election.
- There must be an annual election for members of the council on, a date set by
council.
- At an annual election at least 1/3 of the elected members of the council must be
elected for a term not exceeding 3 years.
- The members of the council elected under this section assume office on the first Monday of September following their election and, unless removed from office under section 16, hold office until their successors assume office.
- Subject to subsection (2) and subsection (5), the number of members of the council to be elected annually, the term of office of the members of the council, and the term of office for which other members and officers are elected may be designated by a 2/3 vote of the council.
