Special Non-Practising Licence Fee for Disabled Dentists October 2003

As of March 1, 2001, dentists who become disabled and are unable to practise may change their licensed status from practising to a special non-practising licence for an annual fee of $200, provided the following criterion is met:

  • Letter from treating physician confirming disability.

If a member holding a special non-practising licence wishes to return to a practising licence within 3 years of the special non-practising licence being issued, the following is required:

  1. Letter from treating physician confirming resolution of disability.
  2. Paying the licence fee described in Article 11.05.

In accordance with Article 11.06(a) of the Rules, members who have been non-practising for greater than 3 consecutive licensing periods may regain practising status by:

  1. Satisfying Article 4.04(c)(vii)(C) that requires successful completion of an examination or course approved by Council. For general practitioners, the examination is the NDEB Written and OSCE;
  2. Providing letter from treating physician confirming resolution of disability;
  3. Paying the licensing fee described in Article 11.05.

Maintenance of continuing education credits continues to be a requirement.
