Labour Mobility for CDAs

Level II dental assistants practising in another Canadian jurisdiction are eligible for certification in British Columbia in accordance with the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) and the Mutual Recognition Agreement for Level II Dental Assistants.

Level II dental assistants from recognized jurisdictions (Alberta and Saskatchewan) may be eligible to apply for certification as a practising CDA if they hold valid and non-restricted certification, registration or licensure. Applicants from other provinces, or those who do not hold current certification/registration/licensure, may be required to complete the National Dental Assisting Examination Board exam and/or complete the clinical practice evaluation.

A new category of certification called Limited Certification has been created to allow Level II Dental Assistants from other provinces to work while upgrading their clinical skills.
