CDSBC Call for Award Nominations


Outstanding contributions deserve to be recognized. If you know someone who has made a contribution to the practice, the profession and/or the College, submit a nomination for a 2012 CDSBC Award today.


CDSBC Recognizes Exceptional Contributors



CDSBC honoured nine individuals for their contributions to dentistry and the organization at the annual CDSBC awards ceremony held at the Fairmont Pacific Rim on Thursday, March 10 at 6 pm in conjunction with the 2011 Pacific Dental Conference.

Distinguished Service Award


The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding and broad contributions to the profession of dentistry in B.C. and to the College of Dental Surgeons over a sustained period of time. Contributions must be broad-based in nature and have impacted the practice or profession of dentistry in B.C. (significant contributions specifically to CDSBC are not required). This award may be for service that is provincial, national or international in nature, and is also available to non-members of CDSBC.


This year, the Distinguished Service Award will be presented to three individuals:

  • Susan Chow, dentist, Vancouver
  • Michael MacEntee, dentist, Vancouver
  • Ash Varma, dentist, Powell River


Award of Merit


The Award of Merit, which recognizes significant contributions that have had an impact on the practice or profession of dentistry through involvement with CDSBC. It may be awarded to non-members of CDSBC.


This year, the Award of Merit will be presented to six individuals:


  • Leona Ashcroft, public member, Nelson
  • Victor Bowman, public member, Prince George
  • Paul Durose, public member, Kelowna
  • Cathy Larson, certified dental assistant, Vancouver
  • Bob McDougall, dentist, Victoria
  • Mel Sawyer, dentist, Vancouver
